Dr. Gideon Kye-Duodu
Dr. Gideon Kye-Duodu is a Lecturer at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health (FNBSPH) at UHAS in Ho, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Public Health specializing in Implementation Research, along with an MPhil in Applied Epidemiology and Disease Control. He served as the first Head of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department at FNBSPH and contributed to various university-wide committees. During his tenure, he led efforts to establish the first postgraduate program at the University, specifically the MPhil Applied Epidemiology program, which has graduated five cohorts since its inception.
Currently, he coordinates the Student Mentorship Programme and chairs the Community, Alumni, and Allied Health Professional Council Committee at FNBSPH. Dr. Kye-Duodu has supported in training over 1000 public health officers, who hold various positions within the Ghana Health Services. With expertise as a laboratory epidemiologist, he has responded to numerous disease outbreaks such as cholera, rubella, yellow fever, gastroenteritis, and foodborne diseases.
He has also evaluated surveillance systems for various health-related events. His academic contributions include over 20 peer-reviewed articles, scholarships, and mentorship to field epidemiology residents and postgraduate students. Married with three children, his interests include soccer and reading.
